Your Responsibilities

SA Motor Lease expects the following from you:

  • On-time payments – Please make sure you keep your monthly rental extension payments up to date.
  • On-time maintenance of the vehicles – You need to make sure that your vehicle is serviced at the prescribed intervals, so that it keeps it value. A simple email of a photo of the invoice for the services will suffice, or a scan.
  • Keep your details updated – Please make sure that you keep us updated of your home address and your work address as well as contact details. You need to update these within 2 months of changing either.
  • If you fail to keep us updated of these items, you will jeopardise the loyalty option to buy the vehicle, so please make sure you keep in touch with us, we are your new friends

How it All Works: How does Rent to BUY a Car Work?

A rent to buy is a rental contract with a loyalty program. If you pay a bigger deposit you get a cheaper rental including insurance, licensing and tracking but excluding maintenance (maintenance plans can be purchased separately).

Because you are in effect renting the vehicle, we do not perform the same rigorous checks that a bank performs.

As a renter in good standing with payments made on time you will be allowed, at any point during your contract, to purchase the vehicle at a pre-determined value. After 48 on time payments have been made, you are allowed to purchase the vehicle at a price of R100.

There are lots of other benefits that can be discussed with the staff at SA Motor Lease if you call in on 011 640 5000 or email info@samotorlease.co.za

How does car leasing for Uber driver’s Work?

SA Motor Lease has a driver rental scheme that allows drivers to basically run their own Uber business, don’t accept the normal 20% of turnover when you can lease a vehicle from SA Motor Lease and make more than R10,000 per month (if you work 60 hours per week). You can employ your own driver (registered with Uber) to drive the vehicle when you are not using it, and get the benefits of that driver’s work paid directly to you. Usually your first 30 hours worked covers your rental of the car for the week, and on average a smart driver will get R75 per hour worked thereafter, so he/she/they will make about R2250 per week if he/she/they work 60 hours per week. Rental of vehicle is charged at approximately R2,800 per week including maintenance insurance and all running costs.

Your rental vehicle will already be pre-registered for Uber so when you get your car you start driving and earning immediately. SA Motor Lease will get your weekly take, charge the vehicle to your account and disburse the remaining money to your account. This scheme works well for a person or 2 people sharing and Uber car who are able to earn more than R7,000 per week with their Uber car or people willing to drive for more than 52 hours per week. If you are prepared to work more than 52 hours a week, you will immediately lift your earnings by R75 per hour worked when you rent an Uber car.
